Before heading into winter break, Marietta High School principal Keith Ball launched a new program in the district called ‘Operation Graduation.’  This cooperative initiative focuses on building strong relationships between Marietta’s schools, inspiring the district’s youngest students to aim for a successful graduation from MHS.

“Operation Graduation works to welcome students to the final stop on their Marietta educational journey, well before they ever officially step foot on campus as a high school student,” says Ball. “Our high school team will visit all elementary schools and Marietta Middle School for a 30 minute pep rally – complete with MHS cheerleaders, student leaders, and a film crew. Principals have selected VIG’s (Very Important Graduates) based on character, conduct, attendance and grades at each school and those VIG’s will receive a special gift during the event from MHS.”

During the pep rallies every 5th grader (Class of 2026) and every 8th grader (Class of 2023) will receive a rally towel. The rally towel is not only a cool gift, but is also the student’s FREE ticket in the door to two MHS’ upcoming basketball games.

Marietta’s Class of 2026 will be represented at the MHS January 18 basketball game against Kennesaw Mountain High School. Parents and guardians are required to purchase tickets, but every student in the class of 2026 gets in FREE to the game with their rally towel.  All students will sit in a reserved section designated just for the Class of 2026.

The Class of 2023 will have their special night during MHS’ January 11 basketball game against Hillgrove High School.
