Marietta Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) Has Great Showing in Statewide Drill Team Competition

The Marietta Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) had another award-winning performance during the recent Dutchtown High School Joint Service Invitational Drill Team Championship Meet, placing in several events.

Competing against teams from across the state including Carrollton, Dutchtown, Ettowah, Lovejoy, Newnan, Jonesboro, Sandy Creek, Rome, and Wheeler high schools, the competition group won eight team and individual awards.

Unarmed Drill Team Trophy – 1st Place  
3rd Place Armed Team Trophy – 3rd Place
Unarmed Drill Team Inspection – 2nd Place
Armed Drill Team Inspection – 2nd Place
Unarmed Drill Team- B Team Inspection – 3rd Place

Additionally, Cadet Charlotte Hettrich was selected as the Top Armed Commander;  Cadet Luis Altamirano Quriel placed 3rd in the Individual Armed Exhibition completion, and Cadets Luis Altamirano Quriel and Hector Barocio placed 2nd overall in the Dual Armed Exhibition competition.

“Although we are dealing with a very young team this year, their performance produced the opposite results,” said Marietta High School’s Lt.Col. James Wilson. “As these cadets have done so many times before, they showed the other schools what Marietta Blue Devils Pride is all about.”
